On April 12th and 13th 2003, Meeka's litter was whelped, bringing eight new ridged beauties - five girls and three boys - into the world. No matter how much we learned ahead of time (and they tried!) from fellow Ridgebackers Dr. Susan Ralston (Ridge View), Cathy Ford (Omega) , Lisa Hoffman (County Line) and all sighthound breeder, judge and trainer Denise Como (Wolfwind), we needed countless hours of support and advice from them and Dr. Rich Bloom, DC (human and canine) both during and after the whelping process. THANK YOU again, you were and continue to be great!

The Peeps were relatively small at birth, which was a very good thing for their mother. Unfortunately for her, they began growing immediately with incredible demands for food. Following is a chart of birth weights by puppy and then for each pup at certain times.

Boz visited his kids after the 2003 Specialty and stared yearningly at their window without speaking. He did, however, offer a bark of encouragement for Meeka, but we were not able to catch her reply as she was muttering under her breath. We believe it was a comment about "irresponsible playboys", but she was having a difficult day with the kids and we cannot be sure. Although recently returned to her main vocation of hunting, Meeka remains a stay-at-home Mom and is busy training the Peeps every day. The vital statistics for sire and bitch follow...
